Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1984 by Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, and Hiro Yamamoto. The band is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the grunge movement, a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged in the mid-1980s. With their heavy, psychedelic sound and Cornell's powerful vocals, Soundgarden achieved mainstream success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their notable albums include "Badmotorfinger," "Superunknown," and "Down on the Upside." The band's music often explored dark and introspective themes, earning them critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997 but reunited in 2010 before Cornell's death in 2017.
